People in Need Grant Application Process

People In Need Grants allow organizations to provide charitable services to society’s poorest members. Churches may apply annually for grants of $10,000. The institutions then redistribute 100 percent of these funds to the needy in their communities. Under no circumstances may these funds be used to support a special program, event or the general operations of the church.

The Fund expects that the minister or rabbi of the congregation will distribute these funds appropriately and maintain records of the distributions. Two signatures are required on all disbursement checks for People In Need funds.

The Fund expects that grantees will prepare a Closing Report describing how grant funds were spent. The Fund, however, does not seek to know the identities of individuals being served. Application forms and Closing Report forms are found on this website.
