Jessie Ball duPont Fund Names Brian Wolfburg and The Rev. Amy Austin Slater to Board of Trustees

Jacksonville, Fla. (September 24, 2026) - The Trustees of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, a private foundation based in Jacksonville, unanimously elected two new members at its most recent board meeting: Brian Wolfburg, President/CEO of VyStar Credit Union, and The Rev. Amy Austin Slater, Vice Rector of Christ Church. Their terms begin in January 2027.

They share a deep knowledge of and love for the Jacksonville community coupled with an understanding of the important role that philanthropy can play in solving complex societal challenges,” said Dr. Elizabeth Kiss, President of Union College and Chair of the duPont Fund Trustees. “We look forward to drawing on Brian's expertise as we seek to put all of our financial resources to work in support of our mission, and to benefiting from Amy’s experience as an educator, nonprofit leader, and faith leader in higher education, parish and community contexts as we pursue our strategic priorities."  

Brian Wolfburg succeeds Marty Lanahan, Executive Vice President and the North Central Southwest Florida Regional President for First Horizon Bank, who has served the maximum three terms and helped to spearhead some of the duPont Fund’s most meaningful investments, including the redevelopment of The Jessie and the design and activation of Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park. The Rev. Slater succeeds The Rev. Cn. Allison DeFoor, President & CEO of the North Florida Land Trust, who also fulfilled his term of service and who played a leading role in the duPont Fund’s strategic evolution and fostered its close ties to the Jacksonville and Port St. Joe communities.

Brian and Amy join a group of five other highly engaged Trustees at a meaningful moment for the duPont Fund. The foundation is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary beginning in late 2026 and into 2027, commemorating two important milestones: the legal creation of the foundation in 1976 and its first grants made in 1977. 

About the Trustees

Brian Wolfburg 

Brian Wolfburg has served as President/CEO of VyStar Credit Union since 2017. Under his visionary leadership, VyStar has grown into a financial powerhouse surpassing 1 million members and with over $14 Billion in assets, ranks as the 18th largest in the United States.

Prior to joining VyStar, Brian built an impressive career in financial services, amassing over 20 years of industry experience, including serving as chief operations officer for Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, excelling in strategic operations and redefining member-focused solutions.

Beyond his executive leadership roles, Brian has established himself as a committed community leader. He is a member of the board of directors of the Jacksonville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, advisory board member of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors, Capital Campaign Co-Chair for the Museum of Science and History, and a member of Jacksonville’s Civic Council. In addition, Brian serves as chair of the VyStar Foundation, championing initiatives that enhance the well-being of the communities VyStar serves.

Brian’s academic achievements include an MBA from New York University’s prestigious Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His education, combined with his extensive professional experience, drives his commitment to fostering financial empowerment and innovation at VyStar Credit Union.

The Rev. Amy Austin Slater

Rev. Amy Slater is Vice Rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra. Amy was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. Before receiving her Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary, Amy taught History early in her career, in Jacksonville, including elementary, middle, and high school, and volunteered with numerous nonprofit organizations. She also served as President of the Episcopal Children Services Board.

While in seminary, Amy deepened her commitment to nonprofit work through the nonprofit program at Georgetown University. After seminary and ordination as a Priest in the Episcopal Church, she served as the First Chaplain to the University of North Florida (UNF) and has since held senior leadership roles, including Senior Associate and Rector in other Episcopal congregations.

A graduate of Leadership Arlington, Rev. Slater currently serves on the boards of Beaches Habitat for Humanity, Life Care, Inc. (Vicar’s Landing), and Mission House, Inc. She and her husband Tom live in Atlantic Beach and have two adult children—Sarah and Austin—and three grandchildren.
