JOB LISTING

Program Fellow (Two-Year Term)

The Mission

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund is focused on fostering belonging in the communities that Jessie Ball duPont knew and loved. We do this through a multi-faceted strategy including direct support, grants and investments in areas including affordable housing, access to capital, activating public spaces, building mission aligned public-private-partnerships, increasing civil discourse and addressing histories of injustice. We are seeking a Program Fellow to be an operational engine for our team, helping us translate strategy into community impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Programs, you will support the day-to-day lifecycle of our grantmaking. This is a unique "entry level-plus" role: you will often be the only other person in the room with program staff during strategic meetings, offering you an unparalleled view of how philanthropy works and community change actually happens. This is a paid position with benefits.

This role is an ideal fit if you are:

  • A Process Champion: You love a good to-do list. You enjoy keeping projects on track, organizing information, and ensuring our data stays accurate and up-to-date.

  • A Strong Communicator: You can keep track of what is happening during a complex meeting and generate clear, concise summaries or memos for our team to act on.

  • A People Person: You are energized by helping others. You’ll be a friendly point of contact for our external partners, helping them navigate our application and reporting steps.

  • Comfortable Translating Ambiguity into Action: You are skilled at building internal buy-in, managing expectations upward, and nudging busy teammates to ensure collective goals are met.

  • Curious & Versatile: You are a self-starter who is happy to pivot—from researching a new policy trend to helping coordinate a community event or drafting a strategy update.

  • Detail-Oriented: You take pride in the small things, knowing that clean data and clear documentation are what allow us to measure our impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grantee Support: Act as a helpful resource for partners throughout the application and reporting process.

  • Data & Learning: Help track grantee progress and organize the information we need for internal learning and reports.

  • Team Support: Draft the internal memos, meeting summaries, and documents that help our team and Trustees make informed decisions.

  • Events & Research: Support the logistics of community convenings and stay curious about trends in community development, public policy and higher education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (all majors welcome; an interest in sociology, public policy, urban planning or business is a plus).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously while still meeting deadlines.

  • Strong writing skills, ability and enthusiasm for interpreting, analyzing, and communicating data clearly and compellingly, and the ability to talk comfortably with a wide range of people.

  • Comfortable with Microsoft/Google suites; any experience with software and databases (like Zapier, Airtable, Fluxx or Salesforce) is a plus.

  • Candidates should be based in the Jacksonville area and comfortable coming into our Downtown office 2-3 days each week to participate in key meetings, team-building, and collaborative projects.

  • Experience, including through internships, volunteering, or paid employment, in back-office operations for a nonprofit, foundation, advocacy groups or other community-based organization or service provider is an advantage.
