Donte Palmer serves as Community Animator for The Jessie, the nonprofit collaboration space owned by the Jessie Ball duPont Fund. Donte oversees communications and engagement with the Jessie's tenants and the broader Jacksonville community. The Jessie is a collaboration space and gathering place designed to empower philanthropic leaders and forward-thinking community members to solve tough community challenges together; facilitate partnerships that reduce structural barriers to opportunity for nonprofits and their clients; and provide a public asset for inclusive cultural enrichment in the heart of downtown Jacksonville.
A proud native of Philadelphia, Donte has a decade of experience in nonprofit management, education and video production. Prior to joining The Jessie in 2020, Donte was a character leadership teacher at Somerset Preparatory Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. He served as program manager at Sanctuary on 8th Street and also led the start up of the arts after-school program, Jacksonville Arts and Music School (JAMS). At the start of his career, Donte spent six years with Global Media Production, sharing his gift of video production around the world.
Donte graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Media Production from Indiana University at Pennsylvania. He is the founder of Squat For Change, a nonprofit organization empowering caregivers through education and inclusion and providing programming for hands-on fathers. Squat for Change partnered with Pampers to install 5,000 changing tables in public restrooms across the U.S. and Canada. Donte and his wife are raising three young sons.
